Haven’t had time to do much photography recently, as I’ve been tied up with another passion of mine….. cars. Not sure if I’m mad to do this or not, but have decided to build an Ultima GTR. How much more intimate can you get with a car

Anyway this morning was spent fitting the headlights & upon finishing the job I found the light was streaming in the back of the garage, so time for a Mono dark moody shot trying to catch the outline of the car.

Ariel Atom 3 – Car Photography

OK, I have a weakness for cars. Always have, always will.

So this is my latest car. The Ariel Atom 3. Basically super bike performance on 4 wheels, so Mrs Williams is no longer frightened of me buying another bike I just adore this car, from the looks, the elegant design of the frame & of course the way it drives. Wow this thing accelerates fast. Allegedly 0-60mph in 2.7 secs !!! & I’m not going to dismiss that from my experience with the car.

Anyway, enough blabbing about the Ariel Atom & time for some photos. All taken at the Cheltenham Race course which has a great backdrop of the Cotswold Hills.

Ever noticed that just after the sun has disappeared for the day, that you get beautiful reflections on your car ? The whole sky is acting as a huge lightbox & providing wonderful light to photograph by. The alternative is to find an overcast day, where the clouds are acting like huge diffusers & once again providing wonderful light. Especially perfect for Mono photography.

So next time you look out the window & find the sun is hidden, don’t despair…… get out there & take some photos

Witley Court – Worcestershire

Having not used my Infrared camera for a while, I decided to use it solely for a photo shoot of Witley Court, in Worcestershire. Having never been there before, I have to say it’s a perfect location for a photographer. I would love to photograph some Wedding couple shots here. Definitely worth a visit

Infrared is a bit like marmite. You either love it, or hate it. So which camp do you fall in to ? Fee free to comment below.

A hundred years ago, Witley Court was one of England’s great country houses, hosting many extravagant parties. Today it is a spectacular ruin, the result of a disastrous fire in 1937.
Following the disastrous fire in 1937 the Witley Estate, including its gardens, fell into long decline. English Heritage has restored the south garden. In addition,Wolfson Foundation funding has assisted with major restoration works in the East Parterre garden, also enabling us to plan development of the formal gardens based on the original Nesfield designs

Broadway Tower Photographed in Infrared

Using an Infrared converted Canon DSLR I took a wander up to one of my favourite locations for taking photos, Broadway Tower. As stated on their homepage

Broadway Tower is one of England’s outstanding viewpoints and at 1024 (312m) above sea level, it is the second highest point on the Cotswold ridge. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, high in the rolling Cotswold Hills, Broadway Tower surveys an expanse of some of the very best of the Cotswold countryside in a 62 mile radius.

Hey, everyone takes photos of the Autumn colours. So to be different I thought I would take some photos using the InfraRed camera I recently purchased. All taken with Canon 24-105 L lens.

Cheltenham Pump Rooms – Infrared

Taken with a converted Canon Infrared Camera. The beauty of having a converted camera for IR, is you can shoot at normal speeds, as you don’t need an R72 filter for the lens, plus you maintain Autofocus.

I tried this same shot last year with a R72 filter & it took a 30 sec exposure !!

This portrait was shot using natural light only, then cropped for this dramatic image
