20 September, 2008 - 8:19 am ivan gamotin - hi..im ivan from the philippines...im new to this photography thing and i love it..just recently had a nikon d80 with an 18-135 kit lense but i like to try lenses with high aprture..like this 1 u used to take the above pictures.however, a friend told me that sigma wears out fast..whats ur comment on this..im agreeable to the cost of sigma lenses..not like nikkor-so expnsive..help me...thanx...

20 September, 2008 - 9:40 am admin - Hi Ivan The only thing I have heard of wearing out, is the black coating on the lens, but we are talking a lot of use to to get to this point. An example is a photographer who shoots lots of MotoX, with dirt & grit everywhere. I would expect the normal amateur to get nowhere near that point, especially with a macro or portrait lens. The Nikon lenses are built better & will take more abuse, but as you said, they cost a fair bit more Hope that helps, Dave
